my slant six stubles a little when its idleing. the whole engine shakes slightly because of this. it has a new fuel pump and the timing is set right. the only thing i could think of is that i dont have the carb tuned right(its been rebuilt) or that my plug wires are bad. the wires i am using are of a 318 that i derbied. the wires got pretty hot during the derby but do not show any signs of melting. any ideas? |

Many possibilities, but I would first check for vaccumn leaks around carb and intake (and associated vac lines). -Mac |

I second Mac on this one. I had the same problems, noticed a leak, replaced the intake gasket, and all the associated problems disappeared. |

After vacuum leaks, check the valve adjustment. Next time you pull the spark plugs, look to see if one is more crud covered than the rest. If you find a really off looking plug, the wire is likely to be bad. |
