Post subject: | Valiants were built in how many countries? |
The RHD, Diesel powered Valiant that SlantSixDan posted recently got me to thinking: In how many different countries did Chrysler have plants building Valiants (or Darts or any other A-bodies?) The ones I can think of are: USA of course Canada Mexico Argentina Brazil Australia South Africa Was there also a plant somewhere in Europe? Belgium mabey or Holland? Mabey not actually stamping panels and casting iron, but assembling cars from imported parts? I was thinking I read somewhere about a plant building US style Valiants in Europe, but I could be wrong... |

Two firms in Switzerland, AMAG and then STREAG, assembled North American-type Valiants and certain other Chrysler products locally. Build quality was typically Swiss: Extremely high!I think you've pretty much covered the build plants. Other countries were generally supplied from those you've listed. That said, Slant-6 engines were made at Gebez, Turkey, and they must've been putting 'em in something, so perhaps there was a build plant in that vicinity, too. |

There is a Trenton in N'joyzey, but that's not where TEP is located. It is in Trenton, Michigan.
