After only 17 months, Vanderly engines has created a street six with more than one h.p. per cubic inch (229 inches), with 272 degree cam, .53 lift, larger valves, ported and polished head, polished (internally) offy manifold, Eddy 500 cfm four barrel, dual Dutra duals, hot ignition, and new pistons, putting comp. ratio at a nominal 9.3 ratio. The engine runs cool, with water temp. about 175, and oil temp around 170. Torque is over 250, and the h.p. and torque cover a broad band from low 2,000's to mid 5,000's. He ran it on the G.M. certified dyno up to 6,300 rpms. I'll put this in my '62 signet, which was made the year I graduated from high school. I have a chrome valve cover and chrome ceramic dual Dutras for a little show quality. When I was a teenager I always wanted a hyperpak like Petty used (170 true hyperpak racing manifold) to beat the other "compact" cars. Hopefully this car will have good street manners and Paul says it runs really "sweet." I hope to get the TCI converter and have the engine installed by the first of the year. Merry CHRISTMAS everybody, and may God bless all of you!

Sounds like money well spent (don't think it fits in a stocking though).

The intake really loves that "mid" area around 3000-4500...

congrats!

Congratulations on engine completion. Sounds like a terrific setup. If I'm ever in your neighbourhood, wherever that be, I wanna ride!

Sounds like he needs a custom stocking to fit it in!

That's an excellent result for a street engine with that setup. Vanderly lives up to his name in tuning. You should run easy low 15s, more likely 14s with that combo.

I really understated the horsepower a little, and his dyno is certified by general motors because he works for them sometimes. It is actually 247 h.p. at its peak, with more than 250 ft lbs of torque. I'm waiting for the custom-made TCI converter he ordered for it; then it's ready to be installed. This has been a long wait, and I'm looking forward to seeing this thing run! I plan on using dual turbo mufflers 2.25" all the way to the rear, with a crossover pipe. Is this a good choice of mufflers? I want free-flow with some mellow exhaust note without being too loud on takeoff. thanks again.
