I called my local pick and pull and i asked them if they had a 4 speed in a volare, the guy looked it up and said yes they have the trans and its only $75  so i asked the guy what motor it had

Me:does it have a 318
Worker :they all had the same motor

so pretty much i take it he didnt know didnt volares have 318's and slants? or am i wrong i know they had slants because of the super six but i called about 3 weeks ago for a super six/slant motor and they guy said they didnt have any. So is it a 318, or slant

i'll just call them again and talk to someone different  maybe he can help me out some more.

edit: o and also id like to swap to disc brakes up front what do i all need, spinals, rotars, calipers, mastercylinder, rubber brake line, upper a arm is that it?

Asking questions about how cars were originally equipped of a wrecking yard counterman is pointless. They don't know, and they don't generally have time or interest in debating the matter with you.

Asking them what'll fit what, on the other hand, is a safer bet.

Yes, Volares had a couple different slant-6s and a couple different V8s.

The brake stuff will also work, but not the upper A arms. Those have to come off a 73-76 A body (can be drum or disk).

Will a 904 from a slant 6 car be the same as a 904 from a 318 car?

Nope. Adapters exist, but it would be much easier (and cheaper) to just find a slant tranny.
