Mike pulled the pump out of my wounded nitrous junkie last Saturday. It has 2 seasons with 2 different camshafts (1 was used when installed) and had been consistently turned past 6000 (shift light has a 6200 chip in it).

It looked perfect.

Thanks again Doc! :D

Good report on you oil pump gear wear, keep the 'data points' coming.
Overall the case hardened iron gears seem to be working but it is not an absolute fix, there have been a couple of reports of worn hardened gears.

I had a recent race engine with a Isky cam that showed some wear on a hardened gear. During the rebuild, I turned the gear around to run on the other side of the tooth, so far it looks OK running that way. :? It may of needed a little more clearance. (backlash)

I have to think that there is some varation in the way the gear on the cams are cut because we never have found any consistant reason why some gears fail and other don't.
