Post subject: | slant six carb questions |
i have a 225 slant six im going to rebuild and put in my 72 two door swinger...right now it only has a one barrel carb, which would be better to go with, a 2 barrel carter carb and go for the super six set up or i can put on a 4 barrel, what would be the up's and down's in a 2 or 4 barrel carb which would be better to go with, and how much mod's would be needed to change from a one to 2 or 4 barrel carb, the 4 barrel carb is a holley carb of a 70 sumthin chrysler newyorker, would this work?? as you can tell im new to this and all advice and help is welcomed |

For "set it and forget it" driveability with increased performance over the 1bbl setup, the 2bbl w/Carter is a great way to go. Everything's all ready-made in terms of linkages, air cleaner, jetting, adjustment procedures, etc. There are greater performance gains to be had with a 4bbl (at high RPMs, not generally encountered in ordinary daily driving), at the cost of a great deal more work to get the carburetor mounted and hooked up correctly (there will be custom fabrication involved), tuned and dialled in correctly (there will be repeated fiddling and rejetting and tweaking and testing), and usually lower gas mileage. Choice is yours! Quote: the 4 barrel carb is a holley carb of a 70 sumthin chrysler newyorker, would this work
Very poor choice. Too big and wrong brand.
