I just started tinkering with the slant six in my 65 Dart. I was going to give it a tune up today, but need some advice. Whats the best way to change the plugs, do you have to pull the sleeve out? If so whats the best way to get them out and are they reusable or do I need new ones? This is probably a dumb question but I am new to my slant and want to do it right. Thanks any help would be appreciated. |

The sleeves are reusable, they pull right out and may just come out with spark plug, but usually stay in place. With no plug, pull with fingers. They tend to accumulate crud, so you may want to take them out to clean them, which means you may need new rubber seals for them You need to remove the gasket on the spark plugs The spark plug recommendation is an autolite 985 with extended tip, there's also a ngk that's similiar (don't know number) |

It appears as though the sleeve is covering the shoulder of the spark plugs, unless they are just full of crud. I put the socket down in there and it wont bite on anything. |

Should be a 13/16 spark plug socket. The plug holds the sleeve in place That would be a lot of crud |

Spark plug sockets sometimes have a rubber boot inside them to hold the plug in place so it doesn't drop when you pull the socket out. Assuming you have the right size socket it just may need a little push so the plug sinks into the rubber grommet on the inside. |

All in good fun. I finally got er done though. Whoever had this thing before me needs to get a clue. The tubes were filled with silicone, the orange gasket maker stuff. It took some diggin with a pick, but I got em changed. Thanks for the heck and the help. |
