What are you guys using for a harmonic balancer for a performance motor? Know of anyone who sells NOS or rebuilt or performance balancers.

I've had Damper Dudes in California re-build my stock damper with no problems so far. Just had to send them my old damper and let them do their magic to it. Their phone # is 530-365-2144

So that's why I don't have a high performance engine,.............

it's the stock harmonic balancer causing the lack of power........

Fluiddampr for a 440. Changed the seal in the timing chain cover to a 440 seal and it works fine.

Here is the link.

Tom, is the Summit site showing a generic image? Because the picture that comes up when I look at the Fluidampr for a 440 shows a unit with no belt groove...!

I am using a Romac/Rollmaster HB from Australia with correct belt groove and degrees on my 64 engine, and stockers on the other two engines.

Cameron Tilley uses these on his cars with good success. He previously ran 440 Fluidampers but he was breaking cranks and the Rollmaster fixed it. It is similar to a stock type, but is rebuildable and has retainer rings to prevent outer ring loss if the rubber spacer fails. He is going to try a swank ATI damper next. I think Mike J runs ATIs?

FWIW, I used a stock damper on my 64 motor with frequent revs to 6000, 45k street miles, a few hundred drag passes, and plenty of road course miles. No problems.

Check out this picture. You can see the dampner along with the EFI trigger wheel and pulley mounted in front of it. No pulley made into it.

OK a couple more questions, If I use the Fluiddamper what do you do about the pully?
If I wanted the Romac/Rollmaster HB where do I get one?
I've tried O'rilley and Autozone both look at me like I've lost my mind (a slant what) If it wastn't for this site I'd really be up the ole brown creek.

They shouldn't... there are very few parts that I haven't been able to get through O'Reilly. Ask to see the Arrow Speed catalog, and then if you don't find what you're looking for (you often won't when dealing with a /6), ask them to call and ask for you. Usually they can find it one way or another.

If people got serious about the Romac HBs, I could make a group order through Cameron Tilley. If you have extra money to spend, they are nice, but otherwise the stockers should be fine. The Romacs would be about $250US by the time you get them here.
