Hi Everyone.

I just ordered a Hardened oil pump Gear from Dr. Dodge, after Taking the engine apart to find some "crap" in the motor. Seems to be coming from the oil pump area.

anyway I was checkin into Dist. Gears.

i found this link about the napa steel gear.

I just wanted to know if there wer any othe options besides the nylon and steel? I seem to remember clifford carring a Bronze gear, is this true?

Thought I'd ask here before trying to deal with customer service.

Thanks!
Greg

Greg, My opinion. You don't need anything, but the stock nylon gear. There is virtually no load on the dist gear, when using a magnetic distributer. I have had a steel gear in my "racetrack" parts box for over 5 years, and never needed it. I have a stock electronis dist, and I turn my motor Around 7, 000 rpm. I do recommend using a new gear, not a 20-30 year old one.

Bronze would probably be good if you were running a billet cam/ or one of Cox Bros. Billet roller cams...

I have 2 DG-404's and they look nice, you will have to mount it to the shaft and drill the opposing hole though like the nylon gear...

I'm with Charlie on this one...I only bought the DG-404 for a certain reason.

good luck,
