Post subject:  B body Rear in 69 Dart- Rim Width

Have a 69 Dart with a 66 B body 8 3/4. According to my measurements
(and best guesses) a 15x7 rim with a 5.5" backspace would allow me to use a 2.35-60-15 tire.
Anybody done this with this combination?
Weld Drag Lites have this rim available(the only one I can find).
Prob going to order, but waned to make sure. :P

on a 72 dart with an unmodified B body 8.75, i ran a set of Mitsubishi wheels with 225-50-15s. the wheels came off a front wheel drive car from the mid-90s. sorry i don't remember which one. later i put 235/60-15s on it . worked great.

Did you move the spring perches from the B body 44" to the A body 43"? Or did you just spread the springs?
With 5.5" BS, the tire sidewall may hit the spring if the pads are not moved.
The factory 15x7" wheels have a 4.25" BS. Know anyone with one of these wheels with a mounted tire that you could try?

I measured the tire bulge on a 245-60x15 (close enough to your 235-60) mounted on a 15x7" rallye wheel, it protrudes 7/8" past the wheel lip.
So 4.25" OEM BS plus .875" gives 5.125" of distance from wheel center mounting face to the inner sidewall.
Aftermarket 5.5" BS plus .875" gives 6.375" wheel center to inner sidewall.
What is the measurement from the mounting surface on the rear drum to the spring edge?

Slant Cecil - thanks for your thoughts on this. I have an update.
I bought 2 used Jeep Grand Cherokee 15 x7 rims w/ 5.5 back space.
They fit perfectly with a 2.35-60-15. Now I did hammer in the wheelwell
inner piece with a hammer and dolly to make it flat before- it may have fit o.k. anyway w/o that , but it is perfectly centered (B Body rear, 69 Dart)
And yes, I did move the spring perches and not just stretch the spings.

You should be able to use 17x8 rims from a Mustang with that B body rear end. The Mustang rims are well built and very inexpensive. They have 5.72 backspacing.
