OK, after thinking more (plenty of time for that at my night job) I'm wondering if anyone has tried using the GM 3.8 batch fire EFI with ported head, bigger cam, more compression, header - the usual hop-up stuff.

I'm wondering how the computer would deal with those mods - in particular the Mopar .460 lift cam.

thanks,
Marc

I have thought about it, but after doing research I wouldn't recommend it. That system was pretty junky when used on a 3.8L GM. It won't work any better on a slant. If you want to use a factory system, get the fuel injection off of a 92-94 Ford thunderbird/cougar. They are sequential EFI with a Mass airflow meter. They were very reliable. Ford fuel injectors from a mustange 5.0L drop right in and have the same OHM values. There are many possibilityies with this. You can buy a computer program to modify your spark/fuel curve on a PC or laptop that plugs in to the PCM. I am working on this for my slant. My only holdup is getting my injector bungs welded in my intake. One other possibility is adding boost with this system is easy with the Mass airflow meter.

I am going to use a Megasquirt computer, reasonably priced and fully programable. I should start installing my fuel injection soon. The fuel rail is done and so is the adapter for the throttle body. I am using a Clifford manifold w/ford injectors and a Jeep 4.0 throttle body. I am still working on the exhaust, but somewhere in the system I will have a wide band O2 sensor.
