So here's the idea. I have an old Motorcraft 2150 off a '78 351 ford. I was thinking of getting a 2 bbl adapter for my 1 bbl intake, rebuilding the 2150 and applying some creativity to dial it all in. I've searched extensivly and haven't found much on this swap. Any thoughts or suggestions? Budget is VERY tight and time is not an issue as the Dart is still under resto in the garage. Thanks slanters. 8)

Adapters are a waste of money. They create strange driveability problems and can have a negative impact on performance and mileage. Since your car is a 74 it probably has a Holley 1945 1-barrel. These things are junk, I have two of them. Get a big bore Carter BBS (Off a 225, not a 170) and replace the Holley with it. That will help you some there.

Thanks Jeb. I'll track down a carb and keep my eyes open for a 2bbl manifold and do it the right way. :)

What makes the 1945 junk? cause it has a rubber skirt on the accelerator pump? I haven't had any problems with mine.

The 1945 is the smallest and poorest flowing carb that was used on a 225. It has a very restrictive venturi. The vacuum advance port is positioned poorly, the power valve is unadjustable, and the idle passages are VERY subject to clogging up with the trash. And besides it's a Holley and most were jetted way too lean from the factory.

Poor design. The Holley 1945 is of the devil. It is unclean and an abomination before THE LORD; it is written in Scripture (19 Holleys 45:74-86)

Yeah, you have, remember? It's just you've got 'em fixed for now.

:-) of course

Truth. And we know that god specifically avoided cars with Holley 1945 cars. The bible tells us he "drove them out in his Fury". The first year for the Holley 1945 was 1974. The last year for slant-6 availability in the Fury was 1973. Coincidence? I think not.

For some strange reason, Jesus liked Hondas. He and the disciples were all in one Accord.

At least John liked Mopars, but he seemed to go for the front-wheel drivers. Don't know why; he spent most of his time in traffic jams ("I was in the Spirit on the lord's day when I heard a loud horn behind me").

Moses is the toughest to figure out. We know he liked English cars (he descended the mountain in his Triumph)—obviously he was trying to get it to start. What we don't know is how he got it up the mountain in the first place!

I thought either 70 or 71 was the last year for the Slant Six during the Fuselage C Body era in a Fury

In my first year of full racing i tried several combinations on adapters. Two barrel on a one barrel untake big two barrel adapter on supersix intake. Four barrel on big two barrel intake it all was a waste of time. For me adapters was a waste of money. Thanks Ron Parker :D :D

Oh, Gee, Dan - ya didn't read it carefully enough! It didn't say the Triumph actually STARTED, just that Moses descended in it! I'd be willin' to bet the darn thing was stone cold dead at the bottom of the mountain...

I think we just have to assume levitation to get the Triumph up the hill!

By George, I think you've figured it out! (Just going on there having been a heavenly chorus of "HAaaaaaaaalelujah!" when I read your explanation)
