OK - 2006 is just around the bend. Anyone want to make some predictions??

I start - a box car will win the overall championship, taking it away from the footbrakers! :D

the 9.85 fast et will fall and the 10.04 record will be lowered just not sure who will be the first to do it.( My gut says Charles M has something up his sleeve since he drove all the way to Indy with a new manifold combination. )

Dennis S. will show up to a race wearing the most outrageous shirt anyone has ever seen.

Lou M. will win a race this year!

Tom

Come on tell me I am wrong. Every year Seymour puts a picture of you in the newsletter(in black and white) talking about your outrageously wild shirt.

Oh yeah - one more prediction.

A certain C-class racer will add another record to his list of accomplishments this year.

Here's my first cut...

Ron Parker will take all the marbles with his bamboozler set up, but he'll still be a foot braker.

Rodney Hargis will happily be runner up driving the same set up (why change what works?).

Norm Foster wanted it really bad in 2005 and will be right up there with Ron and Rodney (he may even bump them). As long as he doesn't try too many new gadgets and just refines what he has already.

There will be an impressive showing from several new/old racers with new set ups:

Romeo Furio's new project will be impressive and he'll win the long haul award at two events.

Dale Rose's Supercharger will be worked out and he'll be in the top 5.

"The Traveling Trucker" will make his debut and run an awesome number, but won't chase the championship.

Mike Jeffries will win or runner up at the 2 events he attends, but won't be in the hunt for the championship.

Charles Myers will attend a couple races close to home with his new set up, but will be focused mainly on his kids and their racing.

Charrlie Schmid will help put on a good show in South Georgia, but won't win the event because he'll be too busy organizing for everyone else. There will be at least two new faces at that event and someone from Georgia will win.

Slantzilla will show up with his new Duster and cool attire at whatever race is close to home and he'll buy everyone pizza after Ron Parker spanks him in a grudge match.

At least three records will be broken this year, but not by anyone that winds up in the top 5 for points.

Lou Madsen will win one event and place higher overall than ever before.

With the increased national exposure and some impressive cars running Slant 6's we will have many more new attendees with lots of questions this year. Many of them won't enter a race until next year though.

I will attend at least one event (as a spectator).

OK I got another one:

Both Rodney and Ron P will make it to the finals of Farmington for the third year in a row.

HHMMM - Maybe I need to have a bonus for anyone that takes either one of them out before the final this year???

If anyone wants to add to this before Friday morning I will print it out and give it to Seymour at the Banquet.

Dang, the pressures on me! :D

I predict the Drakes will run the Simca all season and go top 5 with it.

Ron/Kay Hamby will make a big comeback and hit top 3.

Dale Rose will run in the 10s consistently and...?

I will attend a race that Dennis S and Mike J are at, and Mike will win it.

I'm terrible at predictions, so I'll stop there.

I say Rodney Hargis will take it again. He did last year and he will again this year.. Derrick Daugherty with his D50 will be up there too..

Hmmm, I wonder who that will be. I will be one of the new faces at that race. I have got the inconsistent shift points in my trans fixed and hopefully I will be able to keep it consistent in my runs. I certainly won't be very fast with my 2.76 gears, but at least I won't have a traction problem. :D

I'm not sure if AJ and Kendall (GodsRods Youth Group) could be considered new faces since they were at Paradise (Calhoun) and Silver Dollar (Reynolds) a couple years ago with a car and intended to race.

Maybe since the Duster spun a bearing at Paradise and had four bent/broken pushrods at Silver Dollar that kept them from actually making a pass they could be considered "new faces" too. If so, that would have to change my initial prediction to somewhere around "at least four new faces" because....

WE ARE GOING TO BE THERE WITH THE DUSTER!!!!

Let's just see if it can make a pass or two without failing this time.

Hopefully we will have a couple days before the race to go through the car and get it ready. I'm hoping to fly in from Germany sometime the week before. It depends on what Space-A flight we can get on.

Glad your going to make it. Would a long distance award, go for the car or driver?

Hmmm!?... Probably just for the car and kids. I don't think Cameron Tilley got a long distance award for coming over from Australia.

If you want to make that Scat Pack jacket the long distance award I'll change my mind though! :D

Since this is the Predictions thread, I predict that the Valdosta race will have at least a 10 car field with probably more like 12-15.

Ron Parker
Dale Rose
Norm Foster
Rodney Hargis
Tom Drake
Charrlie Schmid
Dennis Weaver
Jeb
Cecil
Kendall Self (driving the GodsRods Duster)

Since the driver accumulates points, it should be the driver who gets long distance award. Cameron was not racing a car, so couldn't get the award at NW last year.

At what time is the slant race in Valdosta starting? Saturday afternoon? Where are we going to be situated in the pit area?

The gates will open at 8:00 am Sat and Sun. Time trials will start at Noon on Sat, and 10:00 am on Sun. There wil be a test and tune session on Fri nite at 5:00 pm. My plans are to be at the track about Noon on Friday, to get with Glen (promoter) about setting up the slant six pit area. These posts should not be in this thread. Should be in the thread on the Mopar Southern Nationals thread in the event schedule forum.

Im in total agreement with this. Saw the yellow dart laying down some
good low consistent numbers at the track a little over 1 month ago
