I have a CD player I put in my car a while ago. It seems to get interference from the car, depending on how much power the alt is putting out. My question is, what's the best way to wire up a stereo? I'm pretty sure I've got the power coming straight off the battery. Is there something I could put between the battery and the stereo to even out the flow? Also, would lack of power cause the CD player not to work (stereo works but won't play CDs anymore). Thanks! |

Assuming your electrical system is working correctly, you shouldn't have any problems connecting an aftermarket CD player directly to the battery terminal. Electrical system decay has been discussed many times in a past threads, so a simple search should get you going. That being said, an inline capacitor would help to even out the flow, but there are much nicer and more effective ways around the problem. (i.e. Fix the electrical system!) As for not playing CD's, it could be a problem with lack of power, but I'd be willing to bet it's a problem with the CD player. |

Switching to the electronic VR would smooth things out a bit. The amount of power required to run a cd player (compared to just the radio) is tiny. A bad altenator can throw a large amount of noise into the system, so make sure your charging system work properly. |

Also you can use a noise supressor, I got one in my car since I decided to make it a sound competition car, and also a daily driver. |
