| Post subject: | My 62 Lancer Fired-up Today! |
After months of part swapping and wiring work, I lit-off my next SL6 racercar today. Right off the bat, the carb overflowed from a stuck needle valve and I had a minor oil leak but after some tighting and adjustments, the engine was running with the roar of an open exhaust Slant. Seeing the car is put together with all the stuff out of my crashed 68 Cuda, things should come together pretty quick. Next on the list, get some exhaust pipes and mufflers hooked-up and take the car for a drive! 6 weeks until Las Vegas... it's crunch time! DD |

Does this mean the Dacuda will not be in Vegas Doc? I'm also trying to finish up a car that Dennis might drive in Vegas- and it is crunch time- many issues to work out! |

Dacuda is the "plan B" car if the Lancer does not "shake-out" over the next few weeks.I really want to run the Lancer at the 4th annual Mopars at the Strip race just to keep a personal "trend" going.... So far, every year since the beginning of the MATS, I have managed to race a different car at that event. DD |

Doug- Is the Lancer the same "formula" as the Dacuda- i.e. stock engine with nitrous? My 69 Dart which is nearing completion is a stock mtr. w/ Clifford 2 piece hders, manual valve body, 3.55 posi, and some kind of 4 bl. carb- (experimenting now) I plan to add nitrous and hope I can break into the 14's |

| Post subject: | /6 lives AGAIN - DR. D |
Congrats DR.D, I'm a mile behind you at this stage. Hope to see you (and introduce myself) at Vegas. My /6 life had been mostly oval track but watching the Shoot-out over the past 3 years got me a WOODY. NOTE ABOUT OPEN HEADERS AND THE /6: Buzz one of these at 6500 all night for 50 or 100 laps on a half mile. We ran our twin 3" pipes out the rt door for the fans and also so you could here even a mid range FART.... Finishing up my last 3 A-100 Projects, and inturn offing them, has me in the position to go Shoot-Out Racing. This site has been a God-Sent of info that has changed so greatly since the 70's. Thanks to all. Now if I can get the skinny on the flat top 2.2 4-banger piston useage I can get my engine Guru off my back. I also wonder why the shot of a Lancer or Valiant from the rear IN the garage is soo popular here?? Mine's backed in so a rear shot involved climbing on my compressor so I didn't get one YET Terry |

Rick, I'm pretty sure he has the 210 out of the old Barracuda in it. Could be wrong though. i.e. stock engine with nitrous? Heard from my trans guy tonight. Trans brake trans will be done next weekend. |

The Lancer has my 10 to 1 "tall block" 198 in it. That engine has run 14.60s "on the motor". http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... 26&start=0 Have the NOS system on it now so my bet is that it should run a high 12 with a shot. Got the exhaust fabricated & hooked-up over thel ast few the weeknights and will do a test drive tomorrow. There is still lots to do on the car before I feel like towing it 600 miles to a race. DD |
