Do either of you know of any significant pros/cons concerning aluminum pumps compared to iron pumps?

I know the alu. water pump uses bearings and a bronze bushing to support the shaft, so it seems that it should have no significant problems as compared to an iron one.

I have one (used) aluminum oil pump, and it seems to have a gear mesh problem that I think is due to wear in the housing around the input shaft.

I'd like to try to shave some weight, but not at the expense of durability.

Aluminum weighs less.

Factory water and oil pumps were aluminum.
