I fell off my rocker the other day and needed to bleed my brake... Well stupid ol me decided to take off the brake line... And i needed to know a way to line up the hole on the bolt with the hole on the brake line (obviously) and i was wondering how i could do this.. Possibly by marking the two holes with something... Second problem.. The little bolts that are actually MADE for bleeding the brakes are both badly rounded off on the front... Hoow can i get them off. I tried using a torch to heat it up and possibly breaking it lose.. No luck. I tried using liqiud wrench... THAT didnt work... Are there any other ways to bleed the brake? Like the back drums? Or am i just screwed? Sorry for spelling and ignorance... Dave |

Soak the bleed screws in PB Blaster over a day or two. Spray them whenever you think about it. Use a line wrench to prevent rounding. If the flats are already wiped out, you may have to get medieval on them - Visegrips, etc. Have new ones ready.

The bolt used to secure the line directly to the hub... it has a prefab hole drilled through it to let the fluid flow... |

Do you have disc brales, on the front? I think you are talking about the hollow bolt that fastens the "banjo" fitting on the end of the rubber brake hose to the caliper. If this is the case just put the bolt thru the banjo fitting and tighten it into the caliper. It does not have to be lined up with anything. However it does require Copper washers on either side of the banjo fitting, preferably, new ones. |

You don't have to worry about the orientation of the bolt with a hole. By design, once installed there is a void inside the hose-end fitting that lets the fluid get to where it's supposed to go. You probably also noticed there are thin copper washers between the fitting and the caliper/axle. They are supposed to crush for a good seal. To avoid leaks, now that you disassembled it, you might want to get new ones in the HELP! section at your favorite auto parts store. If you ever get the old bleed screws out, you might want to invest a few extra dollars and install the "speed bleed" screws. They allow you to bleed brakes all by your little lonesome. Small pipe wrench works really good on bleeder screws that are already trashed. |
