| Post subject: | Disk/power breaks |
Hi, I have a 1970 Dart 4 door and it dosen't have power or disk breaks. I was wondering if I could use a similar car for these components from the local salvage yards? |

Yes. Better yet, use parts from later ('73 to '76) A-bodies, and rebuild/upgrade your suspension in the process. Do searches here and elsewhere on the web. mopar disk brake swap, etc |

thanks! Would suspension and brake parts from those years bolt up with little or no fabrication? |

yes. you need the lower control arms from the donor car, but here's some links. http://www.moparaction.com/tech/archive/disc-main.html http://www.moparts.com/Tech/tech/pages/abody.html http://www.rowand.net/Shop/Tech/EarlyMo ... keSwap.htm (has parts list) |

actually, you don't really need the LCAs as the lower ball joints have the same size/taper stud. just the UCAs and everything in between. i think the later, big bolt disc setups used a larger diameter strut rod. so if you decide to use the later LCAs, be sure to get the strut rods as well. as a bonus you'll get a minor performance upgrade via the stiffer rods.http://www.moparaction.com/tech/archive/disc-main.html http://www.moparts.com/Tech/tech/pages/abody.html http://www.rowand.net/Shop/Tech/EarlyMo ... keSwap.htm (has parts list) -james |

The strut rods connect to the LCA's and K-member, so the originals can stay (assuming they're straight). ![]() I believe this photo was taken before I mounted the calipers (80 Volare, to the rear). I'm using the original strut rods and LCA's (with homemade plates) with the 73-76 A big bolt pattern disk knuckles, balljoints, UCA's, rotors, master cylinder, and C-body tie rods. |
