These guys are great to deal with, and They are as far as I know the leaders in this process. They Take your manifold pump abrasive stuff thruough it, and make it smooth as glass. - I had My hyperpak intake done. Havent Assembeled it yet. Price as of 8-05 was $480 for the aluminum manifold. - Cast Iron Is quite a bit higher in price because the process takes longer! Check out the video! http://www.gethoned.com/ They are based in IRWIN PA, Literally 3 Miles from My house! Many Top racers use the process - Espically the Mustang Guys. If you call, ask for Rick Miller and tell him the guy from Irwin with the slant six told you about the company. (he might not remember me, but it's worth a shot) Greg |

I have never heard of that before. Sounds good. Maybe i'll get it done. Cory |

Boy, at $480, it does not sound like good bang for the buck, unless you are a class racer, where you have rules and need the max horse power per cube. |

Greg, Glad to see you are trying some different stuff in your engines. I agree it is a bit expensive, but who knows?? Would be cool to dyno or dragstrip it with an unmodified Hpak and then bolt that on. Heck, people are spending $3500 on billet cranks that weigh the same as a stocker... Lou |

Not knocking the process. If you want to do it, and can afford it, go for it. I 'm just trying to keep thing in perspective, for those with less experiance. I can't count, how many times I was told not to waste money on a slant, much less using a turbo or nitrous. |

I am intrested to see what the intake will. do. I cannot just measure the gains from just this process though, as I have changes transmissions, Rocker arms, as well as having the process done to the intake. Greg |

Guess you'll just have to buy another intake, eh? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lou |

I've heard the best results are a combination of old style porting technique, then the extrude hone....... Extrude hone doesn't take much metal off, more a smoothing polishing. So port match 'old style' (have intake manifold slightly smaller port so it doesn't end up bigger than intake port in head). I also think it would be a good idea for the cast iron exhaust manifold |

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall something about never polishing your intake smooth. Seems you want a bit of casting roughness in order to induce some surface turbulence that helps keep fuel in suspension. If this is true, then we darn sure don't want to polish the intake runners on a slant. The exhaust is another story, though. Make them glass smooth for some gains. Then again, I may be just another opinionated S.O.B. Roger |

Right, you don't want polished on a 'wet' intake manifold. You want a little bit of roughness to make sure the fuel atomizes. But it doesn't take much roughness to insure that, 120 grit flapwheel would be enough (and it still would look smooth) Exhaust you want polished so carbon can't get a foothold and cling. |

They can do Exhaust manifolds too. I run tubular headers, so I didnt see much of a point to it, But I have thought about having a stock manifold done, Although the Cast iron is a bit more expensive. When they did my intake, I had put some dye on the ends of the runners and scribed the gasket line, and they cleaned off the material nicely, and they also left the "distrubition Dam" under the carb that Mr. Dutra cast in there.
