Back in my "old days", I knew several racers that tried them. Some swore by them, others swore at them. The last time this vendor posted them, I thought about trying them. Them I read further: "not recommended for nitrous, forced induction, or compression over 10.5 to 1." I would check with people like Mike Jefferies, Cox Bros, Drakes, Charles Myers, Will burns, and get their opinion. Maybe the engine shop that did Furio's engine. |

I had an awful experience with these rings, which were installed in very careful compliance with the instructions as far a cylinder finish, ring fitting, piston clearance, break-in, etc. They utterly failed to seal; the engine ran OK but was an oil burner deluxe. No more for me, thanks; I'm driving. |

I was reading this on Moparts-- granted -- not sure who any of these guys are -- but they seem to think the gapless are not worth it!! http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/sho ... ost2313922 Let us know what you decide to do |

Small bore engines such as the slant six usually have small end gaps in the rings to begin with, so I don't see no point in gapless. The horsepower gained may not be worth the added hassle and expense |

The only gapless ring in that set is the second. A gapless in the top groove has never worked. Based on the new ring gap specs from Sealed Power, the gapless in the second groove isn't the way to go. Sealed Power, and all other ring mfgs, used to recommend a smalller gap on the second ring, eg .014/.012, do to it not seeing as much heat as the top ring. Now they recommend a bigger second ring gap, eg .014/.016. This is to relieve any pressure buildup between the top and second rings, causing the top to flutter and losing it's sealing ability. |

checking the total seal catalog shows the p/n in the auction to be the correct part number. it's interesting they list bore sizes up to .080 for the slant. there are also listings for the neon and 2.2l pistons (just about every chrysler engine for that matter.) it's been a while since i've built a slant, but on the several i've done, i have never been happy with the way the rings fit. the gaps are never even and although i've never had a problem on any build, i've always wanted something better like a file fit ring. i'd give 'em a try. -james |

We have run them on every motor we have built for the Simca. No problems. JMHO. Tom |

Gapless rings usually are a drag race only piece. |
