What is the best to use on a daily driver VS. race, a vented distributor cap or un-vented.

Use a Standard-Bluestreak CH-410X. It is vented.

I believe vented caps are required on electronic ignitions.
I haven't even seen a vented cap for sale for years.

They're not required on any ignition. It's just that they are better at resisting internal flashover and condensation buildup.

Don't get an Echlen or Bosh. The rotor was melting the material around the contacts in the last Echlen I used, and a Bosh I got (never installed, returned it) had so much casting flash around the contacts they where partialy obscured. So I took Dans advice (yet again  ) and got the CH-410 Standard cap.

On a side note, the place I found the cap was a local mom & pop store, and when I told the guy what I needed, he walked right to it on the shelf. No looking on the computer, no asking if the car has AC or front disk brakes, just the correct part. Its 7 miles out of my way, but he's getting my business now!

I guess I should have said "needed" instead of required. As it was explained to me, the higher temps of the electronic ignition create higher pressures under the cap and need to be vented. It'll work with a non-vented cap, but they don't last as long.

I should have said *non* vented cap.

I got a blue streak cap, after a few Weeks my truck started running weird I took the cap off and the center point for the coil that contacts the rotor has broke off  No idea why. My dad had gotten it for me along with a blue streak rotor. It was quite odd.
