Hey guys what brand of shocks would you fellas recommend? I need a set of fronts to go on my Duster. I have NAPA shocks on the back which cost about $20 each and I am tempted to use them on the front also. But Advance Auto has KYBs which are $44 each. Would the addtion of KYBs make my Duster handle better, which has a slightly worn stock front suspension, six cylinder torsion bars, air conditioning, and no swaybars. Are these shocks worth the money on my application or should I go with the NAPA shocks? |

I can't really help with your application because my car's setup is different. However, I have found that it's worth it to spend the money for good shocks. I have Edelbrock IAS shocks ($70 a piece) at all four corners of my Dart. They are good at controlling the .920" torsion bars and heavy duty rear leafsprings, but I do not know the effect they would have with stock t-bars and leafsprings. It was a major improvement in handling and ride quality going from generic (Pepboys Gabriel shocks) "heavy duty" gas shocks to these. |

KYBs for sure if you can afford 'em. Major, major improvement in ride and handling over the ordinary Gabriel, Monroe, etc. type units, and the KYBs last a great deal longer, too. |

jeb- if you're running the NAPAs in the rear and are happy with them, just get some for the front. the KYBs would kinda be overkill if you're running stock suspension. save your money to put towards replacing any other worn parts or maybe a nice swaybar. -james |

I just checked Jeg's and I can get KYBs for about $30 each. For that reduced price I guess I will get them from Jeg's. I wish everything was as cheap as Family Dollar. |

Best bang for the buck are KYB's (plus minimum I'd install) Lot's of places on internet have them, summit has them for $30, I've seen similiar prices elsewhere. (some places even have free shipping & handling) |

Jeg's has free shipping as long as you order before 6:00 PM.

Jegs like Summit might call it free shipping, but both charge you a handling charge of about $10......... |

KYBs work very well with stock or reasonably modified suspension. Great deal for $30 ea. Get 'em! Lou |

I just put KYB shocks all around on my Dart last week. Replacing worn out set of Gabriels. I have a stock suspension still, but plan to upgrade my T-bars and leaf springs later this year. I can say that you will definitely notice a large difference, for the better. I got mine from Summit for $30 a pop, but like mentioned previously, free shipping meant a $9.50 handling fee to go with it. Do it!  Brian |

...my Jolly Green Giant ('72 Newport) still has the original crusty shocks.  It rides like a waterbed on the Queen Mary in a tsunami - I love it, but plan is to eventually locate 4 NORS Western Auto shocks @ 5 bucks a piece for superior handling and ride.  D/W |
