Post subject:  Hey guys help me with this
This is a picture of the inside of a Holley 1945, which is identical to the carb on my car, this carb is a junker which I have been piddling around with. My problem is the tight fit of the jet next to the carb body. Now how in the heck am I supposed to get the jet out when it is that tight. The top of the jet is mangled because I tried to remove it with a screwdriver (just like I do with every other carb, but it actually works!) Sorry that the pictures are so fuzzy, camera is on its last leg.

So I need to know if this is the correct tool to get that jet out with. Says it is used to remove jets. Can it be used to install them with also.

It sure looks like that is the correct tool. Give Holley a jingle and ask them if it is the correct one for the jets in that carb. They may have more than one size tool.

I called Holley this morning and they put me on hold. When I finally got them they were not very cooperative or helpful.Guy said that they don't have anything on a Holley 1945. Guess they only specialize in 4-barrels and performance carbs. So much for that.

What did you other guys use when you tuned the jets on your 1945's?

Jeb, holley guys are like shivvy guys. shivvy guys only know about 350's, and holley guys only know about 4150/4160 4-barrels.

The tool looks like it'll help, by the way. holley jets all seem to be of one standard design.

I'll go ahead and order the Holley Jet tool. It is not the jet design I am worried about it is the tight fit between the jet and the carb body. The tool will have to be no wider than the top of the jet or else it will bang up agianst he carb body.

It's pictures like this make me wonder why Holley didn't machine the jets to have a hex socket (Allen type) on the inner circumference instead of a slotted circle.

Buy a cheap screwdriver and grind it down to the right size all around.................

If you're real good with the grinder, you can even get the same shape as the holley tool

I used to have a screwdriver that was perfect for jets.

It was one of those double phillips/normal flippable deals.

The normal side didn't have the usual head flare and the shaft was a constant diameter all the way down

It wasn't a bit driver......

It had a steel rod about 7 inches long. One end of the rod was philips, the other normal. Then a hex nut in the middle.

The rod fit inside a handle (socket at end of handle to fit aroun hex nut). Not even sure they make them anymore
