What brand of exhaust manifold paint would you guys recomend? I have been looking through the eastwood catalog and They seem to have a pretty good high temp paint (1400 degrees) so I would like to repaint my exhaust manifold factory gray. They also said that Glyptal can be used to seal porous castings and small cracks. I think it would do a good job sealing an aluminum supersix intake. But can it be painted over? |

I used Eastwoods exhaust paint on my manifold. Not real happy with it as it has spotty rust already, but my manifold sat for about 6 months between painting and finally getting back on the car. I know they recommend getting the manifold heated to cure the paint shortly after painting, so you may have better success if you are further along in the process. Can't answer your question on the sealing of the aluminum intake. |

| Post subject: | I used the stuff from the POR15 folks |
The same folks that make POR15 also make a high temp application in pints. I used it, works fine, bout the same cost as Bill's. I would have preferred Bill's spray because I like to spray, but the POR folks didn't have spray and I needed to get the stuff the day I needed to apply. Still, it is an alternative. GO to a POR distributor and get a catalog, they have several ingenious products. I used one on the brake backing plates after blasting them. rock '64d100 |
