The PCV on a 63 valve cover mounts on a steel endcap with a hole in the center. I need that endcap piece. What's that part called? |

All I've ever heard it called is a "PCV Cap." The Paddock has them in a kit for the 426 Hemi but all the parts except the PCV Valve are the same. Now for the bad news... they want $100.00 for the kit. My plan is to clean and paint the one I have. |

This kinda belongs in "Parts Wanted". There are a few different solutions for this problem. There's the expensive "Hemi" kit, as Dakight mentions. It can be had somewhat less expensively from Atlas Motor Parts, though that's still a hefty chunk of cash. There are still enough of the non-chrome ones (P/N 2203 116) floating around on the NOS market that if you require a new one, you can find one. The 2-legged spring steel retainer (P/N 2203 117) is tougher to find in good used shape, but still not too difficult. In '66 they changed from this cap arrangement to a grommet setup that makes life much easier. Next time you have to remove the valve cover for whatever reason, maybe a change to a '66-'69 cover is in order. |

My '66 has the older setup, not a grommet. Was this a mid-year change, or did someone give my slant the wrong valve cover at some point? No wonder parts stores always give me the wrong PCV valve. |

The change was in mid-late '66 or in '67 depending on the production plant, yes. But, the same PCV valve was used both with the grommet and with the cap. It was a metal valve with a curved pipe on it. For 1970, a new plastic valve was introduced. Both the metal and the plastic valve can be used with the grommet or the cap, though it's harder to use the plastic valve with the metal cap. The metal valve is no longer available on the aftermarket. |

Huh. A lot of the aftermarket PCV valves I've seen are T-shaped and don't work with the cap at all. I guess one with a simple 90 degree bend would work, but I had to buy a NOS one from Year One. (At least they were right down the street so I didn't pay shipping.) |

Never seen a T-shaped valve offered for a Mopar. You're right, you've been offered the wrong one! The late Mopar valve looks like this: Quote: I had to buy a NOS one from Year One.
I am very curious to know how much they charged you, because I sold them 300 of those NOS PCV valves a few years ago. You very well may have gotten one of "mine"!(I now have about 60 of them in stock again). |

I think the one I had came with a stem that was a bit higher, but that is the shape I meant. I can't remember what I spent on the Year One valve - it was some time ago. I'm thinking somewhere on the order of 6-8 dollars. It was more than a parts store price but not so high as to make me say "ouch". |
