I dropped off a spare T5 trans, bellhousing, and drawing to Hamilton's Machine and he is starting on the prototype adapter plate. It is a busy time for him, and with the holidays he says it will likely take 3-4 weeks.

Once that is done, it should be quick work to tool up and do all the others. I expect everything will be done in early Feb.

I so far have one BH from Greg Mader and one from James L, and deposits from Greg, Rock, and Slant6rat. Go ahead and keep sending them out, folks. I'd like to have them all in hand by Jan 15, so I can take them all over when the prototype is done.

The more we get, the cheaper they'll be.

Thanks again,

Lou

Hey all,

I'll be in and out of town over the next two weeks. If you haven't sent your BH yet, please wait until after Xmas so my nice neighbors don't have to lug boxes off my front porch, or things don't get returned.

Thanks,

Lou

Hi Lou,

I know that there is the series of threads that you, vader, and Sandy have written on your T-5 conversions. Can you ( or all of you) come up with a standard list of items needed. A bill of materials, if you will, with specific part numbers for the hydraulic throwout bearing, clutch plate, pressure plate, blah, blah....

This would help in pricing, and ensuring that we don't run into mistakes you have figured out, etc.

Thanks,

Greg

Greg,

I will do this soon - thanks for the encouragement. I won't leave anyone high and dry.

Lou

Lou,
Just wanted to make sure you are ready to receive the bellhousings again. I was out most of the past week but will get it out to you tomorrow with the deposit if you are ready to receive them again?

Brian

I hope this is the right place to respond ?
Thanks for the info Lou !
I am interested in getting a t5 adaptor for my slant.

I have a whole OD tranny set up from an 82 pickup, flywheel to tail shaft, I also have the pedal set up from a 73 duster. The problem is there is a small hole in the BH on the lower right side (opposite the fork opening). It looks like something wiped inside. The hole is about the size of a 5/16 bolt head. I know you really can't tell without actually looking at it , but does this sound like a problem ? Will it interfear with having the adaptor made? I plan on having it welded before final install in my car. Last question (for now) is the adaptor metal or aluminum.
Thanks !
jeff

Jeff,

I'm not sure if your hole will be a problem or not, but likely not, esp if you weld it up. Mostly I'd be worried about cracks spreading from that hole.

The adapter plate will be steel.

It looks now like I will not be able to submit the big order with everyone's BHs until the end of the month, but please get them to me by Jan 25. Once I take the pile of BHs over there, it will more expensive if someone wants to add on to the order.

Lou

Thanks Lou -

I have some time tomorrow (tue) , I think I'll take my bh down to a local welding shop to get a price and time frame on having the hole welded up.
Hopefully they can do it asap, so I can have it done before it send it to you. I will keep you informed on my progress.

thanks again
jeff

Hi Lou,
I took my bell housing down to welder this morning and got it back this afternoon. I will be taking it to the UPS store tomorrow morning (wed), and sending it on down to ya. And the deposit will soon follow in the mail.

Thanks
jeff

Hey Lou,
it's about 6:00 pm sun, just checked ups tracking , my bell housing is scheduled to be delivered to you tomorrow, mon 1/16. I also have another question. Do you need the specific type of t5 tranny, IE : year, car, engine size the tranny was bolted to. I have not picked one up yet but there is about 1/2 dzn mustangs in the local bone yard. I goning to try and find one from a v8.

Thanks,

jeff

It is my understanding that all T5s have the same bolt pattern and bearing retainer (centering hole in BH). The differences are in gear ratios and input shaft length. I'll need the type of trans for the pilot bearing collar, but not for the BH deal.

I have Bohmer2's BH, and will look out for 75's.

Lou

Jeff (75), I have your bell. Including the 3 more I'm told are in the mail, we are up to 13 BHs - should be plenty to get a "volume" price.
