Agreed on that....I've always had good luck with champion spark plugs

Has anybody tried those new-fangled 3 ground to electrode spark plugs? Or even the old split-fires? Do they make a difference? I used to use split-fires on my Harley and it made a big difference as far as fouling. Thanks, Joe |

i ran the splitfires on one of my hot-rodded slants years ago and had a big problem with gas fouling. i switched back to champions and it ran great. -james |

Champion spark plugs cost me an expensive catalytic converter and almost cost me a multiple-thousand-dollar Lotus cylinder head (in my '91 Dodge Spirit R/T). They were of decent quality way back when Fram filters were of decent quality, but that was many years and many corporate owners ago. Now they're owned by the cheapening experts at Federal-Mogul, yuck. I would only ever use them in the lawnmower of someone I really hated. My preference is for NGK, second preference Autolite. |

I got a set of Splitfires real cheap from Summit for a Chrysler minivan I used to have. They really made no difference either way. I would have been pissed if I had been dumb enough to pay full boat for them. I personally prefer Autolites. NGK is what I have in the race car now, but I did not see any benefit to them over Autolites.

Im an Autolite man myself,tried the Splootfires several years ago in a 360 and fouled two of them in a month,went back to Autolites and other than a few cheap Boschs for just geting somthing running I have used Autolites ever since. I agree with Dan on the Chumpians but what I want to know is what you have against lawnmowers as put one of those cheesy plugs in it.  HyperValiant |

I run NGKs in everything automotive after years of being an Autolite fan. I use Bosch plugs in my chainsaws though.... |

I'm a Lawnmower mechanic by trade, and I only use Champions on customers I dont want to see again. I like ngk plugs, and I have also had really good luck with Denso spark plugs. The Denso is almost impossible to foul in smaller equipment. I've never used a denso plug in a slant, have any of you had any experience with them??? |

i guess i've been lucky with the champions. i have the ford plugs in my van and there are no problems yet. they were such a bitch to change i hope they are as good as everyone says. i've pulled many "bad" autolite plugs and wires out of customers cars after watching the show on the labscope. they would usually run to the local advance autozone first to try and save money by replacing everything in the ignition system with what the kid behind the counter was told to sell them (autolite ignition stuff, wearever brake parts, a-1 cardone reman everything else.) a set of factory wires and ngks would usually make them right. of course these were asian cars which had a tendency to miss with the "american" plugs. something just didn't translate. kinda makes me stick to what the factory calls for where ignition stuff is concerned. go try a set of autolites in an rx-7.  -james |

I've seen Autolite's plug quality drop, too, that's why I now prefer NGKs. Autolite's wires were never anything but cheap "Connie Consumer" krapola.

ford used to own autolite, but probably sold them off at some point. i guess i still think of them as a ford product (probably why i don't like them so much.) sorry to mislead anyone. -james |
