Hey Dennis,

Hope all is well with you and the new combo is going together. Few questions for ya:

On your 198 rod engines, I assume you used an essentially stock head cc (58 or so)?

What did your deck height end up at? Should've been around 0.030-0.070" in the hole by my calcs, with no decking.

When you ran the MP 0.528" cam, did you need valve notches in the pistons? Any idea on valve-piston clearance you guys measured?

I'm finally putting mine together and just thinkin'...

Lou

The last Long Rod 225 I did had a -.020 deck height and I used a small valve notch (.040 deep) mostly for intake valve clearance.

Lou, with no decking on the block I had -.028".

No notching required for the .528 Mopar cam.

Mike did reverse the pistons on the rods to use the factory notches with the .558 Clifford and 1.6 rockers.

I hope you end up as happy with yours as I have been with mine. :D

Great to know, guys. I have a motor here from a guy I knew in CA that has the pistons 0.015" OUT of the hole. Might need valve notches. Probably going to run a 0.525" cam I have. Will need a stock cc head and maybe a thick gasket too.

Thanks,

Lou

I know Seymour had one with the pistons at +.020" once. He had to do some relieving on the head IIRC.
