I have a port and polished 225, head milled .070" , rebuilt last spring, It is now well broken in and I have decided to turbo charge it with a blow thru set-up. I own a garret t25 and I am currently modifing the stock exhaust manifold to fit a t25 flange from turbo city. At this time I have to say I am reluctant to go to an efi set-up. I do not know if a stock 1920 holley would be able to provide the fuel necessary with larger jetting or hold-up to a spike of 8-10lb of boost. My questions are: Should I keep the stock 1920 holley, and modify it for the turbo? What modifications would be suggested if so? Is the a better carburetor alternative without me paying an arm and a leg for a matching intake? What modifications might be recommended? Also do I have to change my plugs to avoid preignition? What plug suggestions do you have?(I have tended to go autolite 985w/o the washer) I also would like to state my thanks for the great forum we have. I do not often write on it but I often sit and read what you guys post and have posted in the past. |

There is a ford running a holley 1946 as a blow thru, and it works good. Should fit a slant easily enough? |

I would go with a super six setup and a carter BBD. I would at least use a better carb than a Holley 1920 and definitely not a 1945 or a 1946. |

I don't know about the Carter BBD, in a blow thru, but it does not work in a draw thru configuration. The needle and seat does not allow enough fuel flow and the float bowl runs dry. |

Easy fix, Grose-Jet CT-13s large-bore high-flow fast-response inlet valve assembly...if you can find one! I used to be able to get these in hand a week after ordering them from the maker, D&G Valve Co in Stoneham, MA, but they don't answer their phone any more, as it seems

Thanks for any feedback guys, I guess I will give-up on the idea of a low tech, high performance ride and stick with what I know best, fuel injected turbos. I will be setting-up a megasquirt system with my turbo. I have enough new spareparts i.e. injectors, pumps, throttle bodies why not? |
