At the wrecking yard yesterday, I saw a super six intake manifold and exhaust manifold on an 82 PU truck (no carb or linkage). It was aluminum. Is the aluminum worth getting? Better?

Not as good. See this thread.

Still, maybe worth snagging if the price is right and the manifold's not cracked in the floor area. The exhaust manifold is the same as 1bbl, made out of iron.

The flip side is....if it isn t cracked it is an excellent inexpensive way to some weigh savings and performance. Just dont pay very much for it...get a guarantee of return if cracked.

Use a late 60s BBD Carter with it and you have the easy standard upgrade.

Yeah...I have one...for 7 years and a jillion miles. Yeah its way better than a Holley 1 barrel!

Each peice is $25. I might be good to use until I score a cast iron one?

POR-15 makes a product called "Fire-Seal 2000" that is supposed to fill in cracks in intake and exhasut manifolds and not leak.

If anything. Buy it, clean it up, sell it and get a cast one with a carb or something for what it sells for on ebay  .

I bought four super six intakes last time i was at the yard, get all you can. i think the 4th i broke a record on speed for removing a slant intake lol

Well what do you know, it's sitting on a yellow car (72 Cuda maybe?). I just happen to need the kickdown linkage and throttle cable.
