i bought an msd 5 al universal for my 1 bbl slant and couldnt find the mounting directions so i took it to my mechanic and he DID NOT recommend i install it. He said something about chocking the engine. anybody know if its true? or should i just take the risk and put it on anyway?

You may or may not see any difference, with the MSD, but it will not hurt anything. The MSD 6a, would have been a better choice. You can go to the MSD website, and download any directions you need.
PS: it's time to choke your mechanic. :wink:

Certainly not! There's no way it could. There are other ignition upgrade choices that might've been more cost-effective, but there's no way an MSD box can kill or hurt your engine.
