Wondering if i should go ahead and get this? has broken bolts

For sale is a complete Super Six manifold assembly for a Chrysler slant six engine. Included is the air cleaner, carb./choke, intake & exhaust manifolds, and the kickdown linkage/bracket. This is a used part, you can clean & paint to your taste. The carb may need a rebuild but the throttle shaft is not badly worn. One of the exhaust studs is broken as is one of the bolts holding the manifold together. There are no cracks visible on the manifolds.

can the broken bolts be extracted and fixed? or is this a waist of time?

Yes, you can extract the brolen stud fairly easily. Just don't use an eeze-out.

Stuff on E-bay goes for ridiculous prices. I would watch it carefully. If it goes over $120, I would look elsewhere.

Keep in mind it'll be a whole lot cheaper to go to a junkyard and get it. The junkyard I got to will even pull the parts for me before I get there for a nominal fee, they are usually still cheaper than ebay or craigslist.

Of course, sometimes you can find something on ebay already cleaned and painted etc... but is it worth the extra money for that? Not to mention that the shipping for that whole setup is going to be spendy and I have noticed that the shipping charges aren't usually posted on ebay for multiple or heavy items, so be careful that when you do find out the shipping, it doesn't put you over your budget. Finding headers or a good manifold at this price or that price might sound good until you after you win and you discover it's $50 or $60 on top for shipping.

BTW, anybody notice that side draught 3x2 manifold on ebay right now? I think it's like $250 or something....

Lately I've noticed that slant 6 stuff was plentiful in the junkyards when I didn't have a slant,and now that I do have one, its kind of like hen's teeth. This especially goes for super-six stuff.

I just scored some "Super Six" pieces at my local Pull-A-Part. $6.50 for the air cleaner, $15 for the carb (including the $3.50 "core" BS charge), $12.50 for the intake, and $16.50 for the Super Six specific distributor. The kickdown had already been grabbed, except for the final lever at the transmisison (which I have been looking for anyway). I got the choke pulloff for free, but had to pay $10.50 for the EGR valve. Point is, it is still worth it to hunt boneyards. My total cost was $50.50. $16.50 of that was optional (distributor) and I could have dumped the EGR valve and saved another $10.50.

It's definately worth it to call ahead and ask the yard what they've got. In SW washington/portland, there is a pair of yards called NW All American Classic, they post new arrivals as well as their car inventory on line, and you can call ahead if you want them to search/pull for you. I'm sure yards in other cities will do the same if you don't want to spend all day looking for one part.
