i have a 75 duster /6. i have another motor i am going to build and just do a swap so the car wont be down for a long time and was wondering weather it would be better to shave the block or head to raise compression? |

Shaving the head's easier, but shaving the block helps reduce negative deck height, which is generally a good thing. |

Do yourself a favor and CC the heads when you get through with the milling. It will help to know what your actual compression ratio is when you are trying to get the spark plug heat range and tuning optimized. just a thought ![]() bwhitejr |

hi,because your doing a total rebuild, take .060 to .100 off deck (depending on how far down your pistons are) and then cc head to figure how much to take off head for final comp ratio. ron |

If you take .080 to .075 from the head and have the block decked .010-.015 to make it a good sealing surface you should end up around 9.0-9.5ish with a .040 gasket. |
