I just bought a new viscous fan assembly (fan and clutch). The clutch is pretty hard to turn. Is that normal? bwhitejr |

The Viscous Fan fits slant sixes? When I talked to a guy at summit, he said that they would only fit v8s. Cory |

They will fit if you have enough room between the water pump and radiator. Early a-bodies are very limited in that respect. Clearance is so tight that one of the most common sights is a ring of damage in the radiator fins where the fan has contacted the radiator. If the motor mounts are not in very good condition even hard braking can pitch the engine forward into the radiator. In fact, I'm seriously consodering (here it comes Dennis) some polyurethane engine mounts for mine. |

They will fit the engine, but on many cars will not fit between the radiater and water pump. |

I looked high and low for polyurethane motor mounts and no body had them for a spool type /6. They also coundn't say if the small block mounts would work.

Do you think a viscous fan assembly would fit in my '72 Val.? How much clearance do you need? Thanks, Cory |
