I dont wanna steal a thread but lets say a 225 with mostly street and some strip use and corner carving for fun? Thinking of getting it used possibly lookng for Buick GN turbo.

The turbo matrix I have (from some source I can't remember) shows that a TO4E-50 with a stage 5 turbine and a .63 A/R housing would work on a 3.5/4.0 liter motor up to about 350 hp. Might be a Turbonetics matrix, I will check into it.

Not sure exactly what a stage 5 compressor is, though. I would guess it is a "P" trim wheel, but I could be wrong.

If it were me, I would look at a TO3 Mopar FWD turbo with an aftermarket .63 A/R exhaust housing ($300, IIRC) with a TO4E "50" or "57" trim compressor. I like the Mopar stuff because the housings are already orientated to work well on a /6, they have an internal wastegate and they are water cooled.

I'm sure a GN turbo would be a good fit, also, except the hookup to the manifold would be different. It would probably require a J pipe, which might be easier than modding the manifold, but IMO, bolting the turbo direct to the manifold is better.

Ok, figured out where the matrix came from. It was Turbonetics.

A TO4E-50 with a Stage V .63 A/R turbine is a T3/T4 hybrid. The Stage V turbine is the biggest they stock for a T3 (unless you go with a GN style T3), while a "50" trim TO4E is about middle of the road.

BTW, if you want to learn a bit about how to size a turbo for your motor go here: http://www.turbomustangs.com/turbotech/main.htm. Read up on how to figure the amount of air your motor needs at "x" lbs of boost, find and print a couple of compressor maps and plot your figures. Works pretty good.

There are also some online sources with programs to do it for you, but I don't remember where and haven't really used them much.

Oh, and the turbine housing was only $200 (as of Apr 2005, MSRP). The turbine wheel was $325. Complete turbos were $900.

here is what i have... an engine rated at about 210 hp normally asperated and i want the turbo to kick in at 2000 rpm and peak at 5000 rpm also 400 cfm weber carb thanks GRT
