Will anyone direct me in the proper procedure and settings for my new points? I currently have the distributer out of the block while I am replacing a bent push rod and the head reworked. Thanks in advance. |

Click this red text to view a detailed post on how to install and adjust points and timing. Disregard the note regarding breaker points availability for the distributor used in Canadian cars. |

Thanks Dan. I also have an ECM module and distributor from an 85 D150. Should I try to install them in my 72 dart. If so, how would I go about that? Thanks again, Truman |

sorry. I meant install them instead of using points. |

That '85 stuff is very low on the list of preferable setups. Better to find a '73-'80 non-lean-burn electronic distributor (equipped with a vacuum advance) and do the HEI swap. |

Unless the 85 is a true Chrysler Electronic Ignition and NOT a lean burn or spark control computer setup. I believe 85 was the last year the slant six came with a standard electronic ignition. By 86 every slant six made had some kind of computer hooked into the ignition system. If your 85 distributor has a vacuum advance pod, only two wires coming out of it, and if the ECU looks like a normal ECU and not a black plastic box, then you should be okay. |

Actually, I'm fairly certain they changed the "standard" ignition module as well... I'm thinkin it was in the early 80's, but I'd have to have the book in front of me to make sure. I'm really not sure what the difference is, I just know there's 2 different part numbers for aftermarket ones.
