Post subject:  Thinest Head Gasket??????

I've been on the search for awhile for the thinest head gasket, and have seem to come up empty.
Who is it? SCE, has a 0.32 or something like that for a head gasket. BUT I'm looking for something thinner!
If I could find like a Big Block Mopar gasket that has a .22 that crushes down to a .20 thinkness when installed would be Jake!
Anybody know where I can find something this thin???
I'm sure SSDan has a contact???? Thanks

I called the Fel-Pro rep and he said that their gasket squeezes down to approximately to 0.036 (installed thickness). I see all the quotes from the Mopar boocks about compression ratios taken with a 0.020 gasket. I suppose that is the metal one for high compression. I don't think that is available from Mopar anymore for the SL6.

The original, factory slant six head gaskets, were stamped steel "shim" gaskets, and approx .022 thick. These are no longer readily avaiable. They are out there on the shelves of us "rip off artists". :) Is there any reason you need this gasket? Can't you compansate for the thicker gasket, by milling the head or deck a little more?

Just read this thread ......

If anyone knows of a source for the ".022 Shim head gasket"
I would appreciate them posting it.

My 225 Slanter can't use the thicker copper composite gasket.
I've installed Hemi valves in the head, largest I could put in
without them touching each other. Which ment I had to noch
the cylinder walls for valve clearance, so the head gasket needs
to be noched also. ( this is probably not recomended now but 30
years ago it was a good trick to make the /6 breath.)
I have to pull the head to install hardened seats so I'll need a
shim stock gasket.
