First question, this fell out of the box that my manifold gasket set came in. Is it a spacer or something?


And what is the best adhesive to reattach this with? Pulled it off a 75 Duster and it is in great shape. Would like to put it on my car because it looks nice.

1) Gasket for air injection garbage if your car came so equipped.

3) 3M Super 77 spray adhesive coating, available at your local Ace Hardware and probably other places. Follow directions on can.

Thanks Dennis, I already have a can of 3M spray adhesive in the shop. Use it for killing wasps.

Reminds me of a game we (used to) play on slow days at work... "Flammable or not?" We have all sorts of cleaners and stuff in the back for "store use." Sadly, they just reformulated our cheap brake cleaner so that it's non-chlorinated. While I'm not sure exactly what that means, I can tell you that it sure doesn't burn as well.

Non-chlorinated means it doesn't contain Chlorine. While that doesn't have anything to do with it being less inflammable, please don't go looking for old-formula brake cleaner to light on fire. Chlorine, when oxidised (burned) produces phosgene, which is a poison gas that is extremely toxic and readily absorbed by the human body by means of inhalation, skin contact, eye contact, etc. It has been used as a chemical weapon and is definitely not worth playing with, even in small amounts. This stuff is far more toxic than Carbon Monoxide, which we all know will kill you plenty dead. It's fun to have fun, but most automotive chemicals produce genuinely nasty toxics when burned. You may want to find a different way to have fun.

(the non-chlorinated brake cleaners are actually often more inflammable, frequently being formulated with acetone and other highly inflammable solvents rather than 1,1,1 Trichloroethane, which was the old standby and was also used as dry-cleaning solvent.)

Which is the same reason you're supposed to make potato guns out of ABS instead of PVC pipe... yeah, I know. But honestly, I know a lot of people who have done stuff like that and never been injured (aside from deliberately huffing stuff). My main concern with such activities is the possibility of the flame entering the can, causing it to explode. I know at least a couple people who have suffered very serious injuries as a result of that. When messing w/ the stuff, I always sprayed a "trail" of it on the ground that would ignite and spread when you threw a flaming object into it.

In other words, yeah, I know it's stupid, but I've found that with adequate precautions, you can usually get away with some stupid stuff.

Next time you go into a autozone ask the pierced freak at the counter for a can of "Compression." Tell him you ran a compression check on your car and 2 cylinders were low and need a can to top it off. Plus it burns real good in a fire.

If only it cured Chestnut Blight I would have it made.

If it doesn't kill blight then it doesn't help me. The American Chestnut trees I have been growing in my patio as a 4-H project are almost too big to fit out the door. Kind of grown attached to them.

As soon as I plant them outside though they will catch blight and die . Life sucks sometimes.

I prefer to be a little more subtle. Berryman carb spay knocks wasps out of the air, no flame necessary. The little straw give a much better range, but makes it harder to hit close up fast-movers.

.I like to sneak up on them when they are all on the nest. That way I can kill a bunch of them at one time.

I have found that a boat paddle works well on them fast movers
