Anybody have or know where I can get a schematic of a BBS that shows the internal passages (vacuum and fuel)?????? And what's the hole diameter of the low speed (idle) jet and idle air bleed? |

Passably decent schematics should be findable in the FSM. Carter used to publish a booklet on the BBS showing the circuits you're after, but it's long out of print and my copy is in deep storage many thousands of miles away. The idle bleed size varies by specific carb. |

The FSM I have has really nice exterior views and angles but nothing interior. And the FSM doesn't list the low speed jet size for BBS,BBD, just the 4bbl AFB |

The idle jets weren't considered "tunable" parts, there was one for each given BBS model. Hence no P/N. I will try to dig up that BBS book for you, but it'll be a long time (months). |

Thanks. In the mean time please search your mental memory banks........... From looking at the carb I've figured out the following: Idle air bleed (top of venturi) goes to idle jet top. About 150 degrees away from the the idle air bleed entrance to idle jet there's a horizontal passage that then intersects a vertical passage down to the idle transfer slot and idle mixture screw. Is there any other passageways? Is there an economizer or idle restrictor in any of those passageways (from the carb diagrams I've found of other types of carb, some have them, some don't) Try to track down rough idle problem and I've blasted and examined everything on the carb and don't see anything wrong (the carb cleaner will flow right thru the passageways and a drill bit will go into the jet from the bottom/fuel side) My idle mixture screw is 2 turns out, notice rpm drop and slightly rougher idle when I turn 1/4 turn richer or leaner. The spec I found on the mixture screw is 1 turn out. And I can kill the engine by turning the screw in. Plus the throtlle blade seems to be open to far and uncover a lot of the idle transfer slot. I can also vary the rpm with my calibrated thumb over the PCV hose, but idle quality doesn't seem to change. And finally with a fast idle (900-1000rpm) or with slight throttle tip-in while in gear, everthing becomes perfectly smooth thanks |

Change your search terms, and sometimes you can find something.............. Found out that there is an idle restrictor, and the air bleed sizes. Check out http://www.tocmp.com/manuals/Carbs/Cart ... index.html But haven't found any diagrams yet....... |
