Post subject:  '72 Valiant Rims and Tires?

I need to find out what size of rim and tire I can fit on my car. I was thinking 245's for the rear and 225's for the front. What do you guys think?
I want my speedo to be correct. I will be putting in a 3.55 gear (from a 2.76) and my tire height right now is 25.5" (195/75/R14). Please help me out guys!!!
Thanks,
Cory
P.S.: I want to get Cragar SS Rims and BFG Radial T/A tires.

You need to measure the actual width of the tire on the rim, then see how much room you have for each tire to grow out to the fender, and inward until it hits something.

Then knowing the offset of the existing rim, you can figure out what rim size to get, and what tire sizes would work.

Hi Cory,

A 225/60/15 will fit the front nice with a 15X7 rim and 4 1/4" backspacing
For the back if you have a stock size rear a 245/60/15 with a 15X7 rim and 4" backspacing will fit nice. But as always double-check these measurement on your car before buying.

BTW. Did you get the disc brake set-up on your car yet?

I have 235/60R14's on the rear on 14X6 aluminum slots. I dont know the back spacing but I could easily go up 2 sizes. I haven't gone larger than 205/75R14 on the front with the same 14X6 wheels.

Thanks for the replies guys!! I am just trying to figure out what size of BFG Radials and Cragar SS rims will fit so that when I get everything I need, I can swap in my 8 3/4 and my front disks (rear and front 5x4.5 BP), Can't wait for that day  :) :) :) . This is my daily driver so it can't be out of comission for a long period of time, just want to get it done all at once.
I am also trying to decide what will fill the wheel wells up or what will look awesome, ya know. Big tires in back and a little smaller tires in the front (not pizza cutters). I'm not looking to put huge width tires on, just enough to grip for future upgrades. :D
Anybody's input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cory
