That´s it, how this little buddies work? I want to make some of them (very expensive shipping to me) but I really don´t know how they work!!.

Somebody can explain me how they work? (pics better :D )

4x4 trucks have the axle below the springs, so a lift block raises the truck by spacing the axle farther from the springs

With a car, the axle is above the springs, and the lower block does the same thing..........moves the axle farther from the springs, but because the axle is above the springs, the car gets lower.


Try searching for lift block (and variations) to get an idea.

Should be possible to do yourself. Need longer u-bolts, and a longer alignment pin for the spring pack (bolt)

funcionan como una cuña o espaciador entre el elástico y el plato de apoyo del diferencial Hay que aflojar las grampas, levantar (separar) el apoyo del diferencial y colocar el espaciador allí. Luego volver a apretar todo. Es fácil hacerlos, los puedes hacer de varios materiales. Aquí los hacemos hasta de madera... delrin, etc.

(in englinsh: they work as shims, between the rear end clamping plate and the leaf. You have to remove the clamps, raise (separate from the leaf) the rear end and put your spacer in between. Is easy to make spacers outta almost any material, wood, delrin, etc.

It may or may not be as much of an issue with a car that sees nothing but street duty, but lift/lowering blocks give the axle more leverage on the spring pack, increasing axle wrap under accelleration and braking. Make sure the pinion angle is reset near to where the factory had it, or you may start going through u-joints more frequently.

Ok, looking at the pictures in the Ford F150 forum and following emsvitil instructions I must put the blocks between axle and differential and not between leaf and axle?

And other thing, of wich measures are the blocks? long, wide, height (in this case 2 inch)

It's between axle and spring just like the truck, except that the axle is above the spring on a car.........

OK, HARD wood, we have some unchewable hard woods like virapere or virapita wich are 100% termite safe. It's like diet food & me. :wink:

well i did this recently, i have a 65 dart, it looked great, dropped the car 2 inches, then just adjusted the torsion bars up front and there ya have it. I must warn however that you may have a ruff ride after doing this, plus you have to make sure everything stays properly aligned, mine was off a bit, maybe some shims would fix it. but i had some terrible drive shaft vibrations and it was putting stress on the tranny so i took mine off. maybe someday when i've got more time I may get the shims i need, and re-align everything properly. After that, you should be good to go.

Post subject:  63 slammed shaved and being rebuilt.....

I have a two inch lowering blocks in the rear and the kit came with extended U bolts. The kit was in the trunk when I bought the car on ebay. It looks good, would love to put skirts on it. But You do have to slow down a bit navigating some of the So. Cal curbs.....

what year is your car? on my 70 dart i can flip the front spring hangers and drop the rear 1" to 1-1/2". the other option is to take a leaf out of the spring pack. drops the rear and you don't have to deal with the blocks.
