| Post subject: | Kickdown linkage with a DGV |
Anyone here ever used a Weber DGV 32/36 with an automatic transmission? I'm hoping someone has worked through the kickdown linkage and might be able to post some pics. My SuperSix intake should be on it's way to me shortly which leaves me to ponder carb choice. I like the staged feature of the DGV and it's rep as a good carb, but without actually having it in my hands, I'm not quite sure how to adapt the KD linkage. I'm confident I could figure it out on my own, but I'd sure like it if I could see what others have done. Thanks, Nat |

Fab it up. All I did was bend the kickdown slotted rod a bit then put a small nut and bolt in the slot to make sure that the kick down is actuated when it is supposed to. Works fine. Just make sure you adjust the kick down as you normally would. It may take a few try's with the nut and bolt to get the proper spot. Back Yard Ingenuity! |

As it's talking about kickdown, i've got a small question : does anyone know what the "kickdown ratio" is? I read somewhere it was 1. That means the same distance is covered at the same moment by the throttle lever and kickdown lever right? Thanks for your help, i'm planning to make a kickdown cable but i wanna be sure i have to attach it at the same place (or opposed by the diameter) as the throttle cable. Marc |

Here's a nice setup for a Weber w/auto trans, using a Lokar kickdown cable. I've done something similar myself, but haven't got it dialed in yet (transmission issues). The Weber/Lokar combo is not a straight bolt-up, be prepared to do some adapting/fabricating to make it work. http://www.slantsix.com/UBB/Forum16/HTML/010573.html Scroll down for close-up pics. Slafolle; Thanks a million. That looks so much easier than what I had in mind. One problem - My slant isn't set up for an electric choke. Wonder if they'd sell it with the DGV 5A so I can set up a manual choke..... Any thoughts? Thanks, Nat |

Hi Nat, If you get a Weber with an electric choke, all you need to do is run a wire from the choke to a 12V source, such as the top ballast resistor connection. That would be much easier than setting up a manual choke. In Ozz's pic below, the electric choke is the black circular thing with an electrical terminal coming out of it:  Steve |

Go for the electric choke if you really need a choke. I'm in Cali and really don't need one, so I wemt with the manual choke and fabbed one up. It's kinda a PITA dealing with it, and to make matters worse, it on a old van. |
