I was the high bidder on this Clark Cortez sidedraft intake/carb/air cleaner setup. eBay automatically sends out an end-of auction notice to both buyer and seller. No contact from seller, so I asked him for a total. No response, so after a couple days I asked him again. This was very different behaviour compared to when I'd used "Ask Seller a Question" to comment on the origin of the setup, and when I replied to his response via email—those times, he responded very quickly! Finally, last night, I used the "Request Total from Seller" link and asked again for a total. This morning I got from him an e-mail saying, in effect, "You're outta luck, you didn't contact me within 3 days so I sold the setup yesterday. You should have followed through."

Right...so, a total of four contact attempts (one automatic by eBay, two email, and one manual through eBay) doesn't count as following through, as it seems. I think what really happened was that he got a juicier offer (more $$) offline and sold it locally rather than honor his auction, and I sent him an e-mail saying so. Also left him negative feedback. Betchya I'll get a fast and nasty response to my e-mail, my feedback, or both, and when that happens, it'll strongly suggest this guy gets his e-mail and eBay messages coming through just fine...and simply picks and chooses which ones to respond to and which ones to ignore.

The seller's handle is cougar67-9 .

At least he didn't take my money and then go all silent, I guess. Still, what a jerk. I officially unrecommend him. :x

Update: Yep! As predicted, a speedy reply claiming not to have gotten the critical two out of five contacts I made with him. (but he knows the guy he sold it to locally, and he'd be happy to provide me with the guy's contact information so I could buy it from him...yeah, right!  )
