Hey Dennis- had to grab a tabloid like headline to tell you
how much all of us here at .org would miss you if you ditch
the slant and how much we all support you regardless!

Thank you for the kind words Rick, I'm kinda tearin' up here.

Bottom line here is that I have the race head in my truck now awaiting the machine shop guy to come and get it for repair.

I was at the shop Saturday and have another bullet ready to drop in the car for Bowling Green. It's a stock Volare motor, but it went low 16's before, and BG is an 1/8th mile race and all run so I'll be fine.

I'll be going down in a couple weeks and pull the short block, remove the rods/pistons, and send them to Mike for inspection and replacement.

What I will do with the motor once repaired is still up in the air. I am still looking at a big wedge for the Duster, but I do have a fiendish project running through my mind concerning another one of my old race cars that I still own. If I can pull off what I want, it will be one of the most unusual street cars you've ever seen.

Ok I know my ole buddy Bagel maybe a lot more than some racers and i know where he is coming from. But let me say this as quoted by Sir Winston Churchill
This is not the end . This is not the beginning of the end. It is the end of the beginning . Hell I know my friend stay tuned . :D

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. :D

I am not leaving the board, this place is my home.

Head is already at the local machine shop and looks to be undamaged. I will be pulling the shortblock soon to send the rods/pistons out to Mike. I feel better now that I actually found a cause for the destruction, not just a shot in the dark.

Will I put the motor back in the car? Still undecided, but I have 3 spare bullets. big thing right now is that money is kinda tight so the car is not a big deal. Nothing is for sale yet.

Bad part is that racing and riding season are almost over. This time of year I may become as big a prick as Dan on here.

Talked to the guy at the machine shop this week. Head is fine, just a couple spots on the exhaust valve face from the melting piston. Going down to the shop Saturday to pull the shortblock and hopefully get the pistons out. Gotta see how many have to go to Nebraska.

Shortblock is out and on the stand. #3 piston is toast, cylinder wall looks saveable. I'm prolly gonna ship all the pistons to Mike for inspection anyway.

I've got 4 different moders available to put back in for now if I decide to get ready and go to Bowling Green. Probably gonna sit one down in the chassis this Saturday. I also actually took the hood off the car and got it ready for some weight reduction surgery. Gonna do some choppin' under the hood too.

Does Mike have an email address? I'm looking to get my head built and get the rest of the motor internals done.
