The gasket between my exhasut manifold and the head pipe burned out during a pass down the dragstrip Sunday. I think the manifold is warped at the sealing surface. Can I stack two gaskets together to eliminate this problem. Inside the car it sounds like Charlie's Barracuda. Do they make a dead soft gasket that will conform to irregular ssurfaces? Or will high temp RTV work.

More commonly it's the headpipe flange that warps. Pairing gaskets will appear to have fixed the problem...for a couple-few weeks, then it'll come back.

So, what can I do? Will the leak get worse as time goes on? I can feel it at idle but it is only audible at full throttle.

A header gasket with a soft metal ring may work.

I used to regularly blow out a plain gasket on a flanged muffler connection until I replaced it with a header gasket, hasn't blown out since. (thinking about 10 years so far)

That'd probably help, but...who makes such gaskets in the 2-bolt configuration needed for the stock exhaust manifold's outlet? Nobody I know of...

It was a 3-holer with 2.5" id. Had an unwelded exhaust flange and went to auto parts store to figure out what would fit deals.............


Didn't realize the stock exhaust is a 2-holer..........

Looks like you might be right; their P/N RF6006 is described as 2¼" centre pipe hole, 2 bolt holes placed 3½" centre-to-centre. I haven't measured the centre-to-centre on a SL6 exhaust manifold, but that sounds about right. Looks as if they also have an intake-and-exhaust manifold gasket # RF6008.
