Hi Guys. I am the former Dartvader, after a long absence. I sold the black 360 Dart which inspired my screen name, so Dartvader is no longer appropriate. I sold some other toy cars as well, so now I can focus more on this one old Mopar. I had really spread myself too thin there for awhile, with too many car projects to really focus well on any single one of them. I had purchased a Corvette over a year ago, and while it was a pretty nice car, it was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back in fracturing my focus. It is gone now too. I kept the slant powered Dart, partly becaue slants are cool, but also because of the freindship of Dart270, and now wish to become active here on the board once again.

The slant Dart is getting pretty close to the image I had of the car when I started the turbo project 3 years ago, and I am pretty enthused about really bringing it to a state where I don't have to appologize for this or that thing that hasn't been done yet. My screen name is now, just simply my name. No cute monikers anymore. I'm glad to be back.

Well, I can't really "welcome" you back as I'm too new here. But, I can say I'm glad to hear you are coming back as it sounds like you have an interesting project.

Any pictures? :D

Glad to hear you are back Sam! I hear you about too many projects. I am trying to downsize all of my projects as well and get life simpler again...

Thanks guys. Can anybody tell me how to get a photo of my car into my signature? You can e-mail me with that info if you want, or maybe post here for all the old grandpas like me. It's going to take me awhile to get back into the flow of the forum. I need to read awhile and see where things are here.

Dennis your question is answered in your own signature, "If it aint broke, break it".

Then, do it with a smaller photo and add to your signature.

Welcome back, Sam! Is that EFI system a Megasquirt by any chance?

Hi Matt. It is a megasquirt ECU but I am in the process of switching over to an Accell Gen VII computer. I have gotten Rance excited about the slant as a project. He has never done one before. He sold me the turbo, intercooler, injectors and fuel rail, which I then machined, along with a Clifford manifold. Now he is really excited about the prospect of getting the most out of the slant. When it is in, and installed, I am going to drive up to his place in PA and we will spend some time on his dyno duning it.
I am just too old and dumb to deal with the Mega Squirt. Dart270 gave it the old college try(he is a PHD you know  ), but you must be a bit of a computer nerd, which I am not, to get the best out of the Mega Squirt. It was a major effort for me to understand and interpret pretty much every step of the way with the MS. I finally just gave up. I will say I learned alot in the process. That education should serve me well in dealing with the Accell. I think if your engine is not a turbo, the Mega Squirt is probably pretty straightforward, and can give excellent results. As soon as boost is involved, the timing issue then becomes a real challenge, and I was just not up to it.
The real clincher is that the Accell has a knock sensor activated timing retard, which really addresses directly the major timing issue under boost. Since I have a knock sensor installed, the Accell is equiped to get the best out of my particular boosted slant. This is not to put down the Mega Squirt, it was just not a good fit for me and my particular talents, or my car. It was not an easy decision to go for the Accell unit. It is alot of money, but I am glad I got to that point ,and don;t want to look back now. I can tell you more about this if you want.

This is crazy. I thought Dartvader was a dead screen name. This is Sam writing from work, and apparently my work computer still has the password saved to get in as Dartvader. I don;t even remember that old password myself. I will try to get this worked out so I am Sam Powell on this site, and not Dartvader. Sorry about the confusion.

You probably just need to click the "logout" button in the upper right. Then clear the cookies from your browser. That should fix it.

This is a test to see if I am Sam Powell, or Dartvader. Ah ha. I am Sam. It worked. Thanks for the tip. Now you can see why I had difficulty getting Mega Squirt to work.

Dennis, when I was a kid, "break" and "fix" seemed to amount to the same thing. If I didn't like the tranny in my car, I couldn't just change the tranny, I had to break it first. So "Break" always preceded "upgrade". If it wasn't broke, then I made sure I BROKE it, and generally had a good time breaking things . I just wasn't as honest with myself as you are. I needed an excuse. With your mantra, "If it aint' broke fix it" you just skipped the breaking part that I seemed to feel was an essential part of the upgrade. As an old guy now, I can accept your version. I like it.
