Hello, I have a chance to purchase an aluminum two-barrel intake for my /6. While it looks to be in very good shape, it is the production two-piece welded model. Is it worth buying ($80.00) or should I stay away from it? Thanks Dartboard

Dan is right i sent Reed one that my MOPAR friend and racer took off. He calls me when he gets any Slant Parts. I got the two barrel intake and did not look at it good just put it up. When reed wanted one i gave it to him and had it shiped to him no charge well it was cracked. If i had sold it to him i would have gave him his money back. Just told him to keep it . So for 80 dollars i would want to be sure it is not cracked. Thanks Ron Parker :D

I purchased 2 offenhouser intakes and one clifford 4-barrel intake each for less than $100. $80 is way too much for a questionable intake. Just my 2 cents.

They are OK if the plenum floor isn't cracked. If the welded runners leak, they can be sealed with epoxy.
But $80!!! That's more than I would pay, unless it has the kickdown linkage with it. I'd give $150plus for a one piece M1. The 2 peice OEM is only worth $30 to me.

Cecil, you are much more generous than I. As far as I'm concerned, scrap aluminum price is about it.

Why in the world would anyone even want a factory 2bbl intake? They are way too small to be a decent boat anchor.

It is better than a 1-barrel.

It is for those of us who can't afford a nice, fresh engine and want to squeeze some power out of an old tired one. Personally I like mine. One man's junk is a another mans treasure.

I am going to a four-barrel and hi-po cam someday, hopefully  . Now I am concentrating on trying to find a good rearend rebuilder.

Thanks everyone for the info on the possible purchase of the factory original 2 barrel intake. I've already got a couple of cast iron ones so will go with one of those. Maybe someday someone will make a good after market aluminum two barrel intake? dartboard

Somebody (MP) did. Not enough people bought it, so it got disco'd.

Still new here but do plenty of poking, I'd never read the article on converting one barrel intake to two, I found it interesting so.. there is no mention of reversing the throttle rotation. Looking at a Stomberg WW I have the fuel line would come in the front and choke is on the correct side all of which I like, but shaft rotates opposite. Do the Carter BBD carbs open ccw to use the stock linkage or am I missing something? By the way the application is 1962 Lancer.

Regards, Lucky

Here's a "BBD on a thinwall manifold" version of the one to two barrel conversion I did recently on my '62. It addresses the throttle shaft reversal and could easily be applied to iron or thickwall manifolds in principle.

The air cleaner to hood clearance issue of our toad bodies is actually one of the more troublesome aspects but is do-able without resorting to cutting into the bracing.
