I have a 74 Swinger. it's beautiful. It's dashboard has a round 'fasten seat belt' warning light, located beneath the fuel gauge. I have noticed that on some 74 and 75 Custom/SE models, there's another...something located next to this light, beneath the temp gauge. Whatever it is, my 74 Swinger doesn't have it. Here's a link to a photo of one. What is this? another warning light? or something else? |

That would be the EGR warning light. Look under the hood. There is a rubber covered thingy that connects the lower part of the speedo cable to a shorter upper part. I believe it is some sort of mileage counter that warns that it is time to check the egr. I just unplugged the wires on mine. My egr is working fine and that little dash light is really bright red and kind of annoying. |

74DartSwinger is absolutely right; the EGR light was run by a little clockwork mechanism off the speedometer cable that didn't "know" anything about the EGR, it was just a reminder to check it every so many thousand miles. Normally, one could use an allen wrench to reset the clockwork for another round. I combined the EGR light with the Fuel Pacer control to make a Yee-Haw light that congradulates the driver for stomping on it. The hard part was the legend - a bulb overheated it, so I made a bright LED replacement for the bulb. |

you guys seem to know all about these lights. what about the light next to it; the fasten seat belt light? does the light work on your car? do you have that Seatbelt/interlock safety function working? or does the light just not work? |

Yep, and if in working order has an accompanying buzzer that goes on for 5 seconds until you belt in, or it just goes out via timer... Goes with the interlock system (sensor in the seat meshing) on pre-75 cars...after 75 it may have a system tied to the seatbelt that just cuts out the buzzer... -D.Idiot |

so if the interlock system has been disabled, the light on the dash won't work? i have the buzzer working - it's just the key in the ignition, when the door's opened. when the key's in the ignition and the door's shut, it doesn't buzz at all... |

I am getting ready to install some of those cool hard back buckets from a 67 cuda in place of the bench seat. I am pretty sure that the buzzer is just straight connected through the belts not a seat sensor. But I guess I will find out the truth to that . I'll let you know if I remember! |
