Hello, This is my first post and I just want to let everyone know this message board has been very helpful and informative. I have learned alot about slants through the board and through the many members as well. thanks. Well here my question, I have a 66 dodge dart convertable and I just spent a little over 500 on a new carb (Holley), full tune up, some hoses exchanged, and the car still stumbles at times especially on the first start up of the day. (There is no choke installed, cause original one was dead). The mechanic also adjusted the valves, and set the timing. What could be wrong?......and recently coolant seems to be coming out from the container and white smoke would come out cause coolant on hot engine parts. I changed the coolant and the container seems to filled a little higher and it looks a little dirty. Any suggestions

Get the choke fixed and check to see if your radiator cap is releasing at the right pressure. I would start with that.

keep an eye on your oil, if it gets milky or has water droplets on the dipstick youre having coolant coming into the engine, the same with white smoke out your tail pipe or your radiator or resevoir boiling out, means coolant is getting into the combustion chamber. If that happens get it looked at IMMEDIATELY youll kill the engine fast otherwise. I hooked up a manual choke because mine broke and couldnt get a replacement soon but yes, very important component to go without Id get something on there soon.I have enough trouble with the mechanical choke Its not surprizing you would experience ALOT of trouble starting yours without one!
