hey, i went to try to find a higher output alternator, i searched through old posts and compiled a list of donor cars, 89-91 ram+dakota,full size vans,and 89 diplomat/granfury/m bodies so which ones are m bodies? are fifth avenues? they are big and i thought it was a diplomat at first, and i had a bit of trouble finding the year, i found two v belt ones on what i believe to be m body cars,one looked alot like the factory slant alt, the other looked different, does the higher output one look the same or no? also, is it a straight across swap as far as wiring? thanks |

wiring connections are the same, but if you get the same one i got, there is a hollow tube connecting the two "ears" on the alternator. this tube had to be removed in order for the alternator to fit into my duster. your application may be different, but just keep it in mind. if you have to remove the tube, its not that big of a deal. nothing a vise and a good hack saw cant fix... |
